Griffins Quick Lunch
This cafe has been around since at least 1940. They definitely qualify as a Mom & Pop cafe – if you go, be sure to try the Banana Fritters. They also have good collards. Great place for the locals to gather, open early. Read Chloe’s Blog article Google map

Cypress Grill
For over fifty years the Cypress Grill on the banks of the Roanoke River in Jamesville, welcomed diners from all over. It was an institution and only open when the herring were running. After withstanding some monumental hurricanes including Hazel, Florence, Irene, and Floyd, sadly it burned to the ground in 2018. The good news is the staff of the original Cypress Grill have opened a new grill in Williamston, serving up the same fare and the food is better than ever. If you go, you must try the cremated herring, the specialty of the house. It is located in the Belk shopping center between Belk and Tractor Supply. 252-792-4175, 819 E. Blvd, Williamston, NC.
